Setelah menginstall SP2 di Windows XP, akan terbentuk folder ServicePackFiles di folder C:\Windows. Folder ini berisi file-file backup dan ukurannya sekitar 600 MB. Untuk menghemat disk space folder ini dapat dikompres dengan cara berikut:
1. Klik kanan di folder C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles, pilih properties
2. Klik tombol Advance dan centang Compress contents to save disk space

Setelah googling sana-sini akhirnya ketemu solusi untuk reinstall Windows Desktop Search (WDS).
Kenapa perlu install ulang WDS? Karena WDS terintegrasi dengan fitur “Instant Search” di Outlook 2007. Jadi kalau WDS problem search di Outlook juga kemungkinan problem. Ternyata menjalankan program recovery di Thinpad R40 (TP) tidak semudah petunjuk buku manual. TP R40 tidak dilengkapi dengan CD recovery tetapi menggunakan partisi hardisk (aka ‘Predesktop area’ 
untuk menyimpan preinstalled Windows.
